Lucas Giolito Could Make Season Debut Next Thursday
19 seconds agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito (hamstring) is scheduled to make what will be his final minor-league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Worcester. If everything goes well there, manager Alex Cora said Giolito will come off the injured list to make his 2025 debut next Thursday, May 1, on the road against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. The 30-year-old veteran has posted a 4.97 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with 13 strikeouts and seven walks in 12 2/3 innings over his four rehab starts with Worcester and Double-A Portland to this point after suffering a left-hamstring strain in spring training. He also missed the entire 2024 campaign after having an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow, so fantasy managers will want to temper expectations for Giolito in his first season with Boston. Giolito was one of the better pitchers in the league with the White Sox, but that was back in 2019-21.
