Lucas Duda Makes Creative Defensive Play
7 years agoKansas City Royals first baseman Lucas Duda hasn't been much of a stud at the plate, but his quick thinking led to an important out in Saturday's game. Gloving a slow roller away from the bag, Duda was forced to make a glove-flip usually reserved for middle infielders in order to get the ball over to Danny Duffy as he hurried to cover the bag. The play went off flawlessly, and Duda's smooth transition immediately began gracing highlight reels. Duda also singled in the game, giving him a total of 15 hits on the season. He's homered three times and singled 12 times. He's also struck out 19 times already, and he's hitting just .227 on the season. He should be good for 25 home runs, but otherwise, it looks like Duda's going to be a pretty poor performer offensively.
