Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Taking A Seat Monday
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Matt Strahm. The 29-year-old had been dealing with a groin injury of late and went 0-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's win over the Tigers. It's interesting to see the righty-swinging outfielder sitting against a left-handed Strahm but perhaps the club is easing its left fielder back into action. Gurriel exploded for a .352 batting average and 1.130 OPS in the month of May but has been cooled off to the tune of a .211 BA and .776 OPS so far in June. Evan Longoria will serve as the club's designated hitter Monday while Corbin Carroll slides over the left field.
