Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is not in Sunday's lineup as the Diamondbacks look to complete a three-game sweep against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon. Gurriel has held a strong .361/.442/.500 line in his past ten games but will take a seat for the second time this week. As a result, Pavin Smith will get the starting nod in left field and bat in the five-hole. Smith was recalled from Triple-A Reno earlier this week but has yet to tally a hit since returning to the big leagues. Fantasy managers should expect Gurriel to return to the starting nine as they host the New York Mets on Tuesday evening. Smith should be faded in DFS this afternoon as he will face Boston right-hander Tanner Houck, who has posted a quality start in each of his past three outings.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-5 with a grand slam and an RBI groundout in Friday's 14-11 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gurriel hit an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the Dodgers' lead to 8-4. In his next at-bat, the 31-year-old belted a grand slam off Dodgers pitcher Anthony Banda in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game 8-8. His home run traveled 401 feet with an exit velocity of 105.9 mph. He has now collected a hit in six of his last nine games and is hitting .306 (11-for-36) with three home runs and 10 RBI in May. Overall, Gurriel is slashing .213/.238/.418 with seven home runs, 25 RBI, 14 runs, and a stolen base across 151 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Gurriel while he's swinging a hot bat as he looks to build on Friday's performance in this weekend's series against Los Angeles.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and a run scored in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Phillies. It was the 6-foot-3 slugger's third multi-hit game in his last four, going 8-for-16 (.500) over that stretch with three doubles, a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored. Hitting just .214 on the season, his xBA of .260 suggests the results should have been better (.196 BABIP), and perhaps this four-game stretch is the beginning of a turnaround that gets him back to a more respectable batting average. The Cuban's 83.5 percent contact rate and 11.2 percent strikeout rate are the best of his career, so look for him to add to his .214-5-18-11-1 line.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. turned in a productive game in a 4-3 win over the New York Yankees on Wednesday. Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk to help power Arizona to the win. He kicked off the scoring in the game with a one-out, two-run homer off New York starter Carlos Rodon in the first inning, a blast that traveled 399 feet with an exit velocity of 106.8 MPH. Gurriel is now hitting .217 with two homers, four runs, and five RBI through 23 at-bats this season.--Matt T - RotoBaller

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is getting the day off in the Bronx on Tuesday against the hosting New York Yankees. Jake McCarthy is starting in left field and is batting seventh, while Alek Thomas will start in center and hit eighth against Yankees right-hander Will Warren, who will be making just the sixth start of his young career. Gurriel will get his first breather early in the season after going 4-for-19 with a home runs, double, three RBI, three runs scored and a strikeout in his first four games. McCarthy, a former first-rounder, is still searching for his first hit of 2025 after going 0-for-8 with two RBI and two strikeouts in his first three games. Thomas has played in only two games so far this year but has looked good at the plate, going 5-for-7 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored in nine plate appearances.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
