Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Looks To Build Off Late 2021 Success
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. got off to a shaky start to the 2021 season. In April, he had an OPS of just .572. He failed to hit a home run over his first 19 games. However, he closed the season strong, slashing .329/.389/.694 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in September. Gurriel credits the late season success to some slight changes he made at the plate. "It looks like simple things, but those simple things can hurt you," Gurriel said through a translator in an interview on Sunday. The 28-year-old has been swinging a hot bat this spring, slashing .478/.571/.696 over nine games and 28 at-bats. He's a great target in the early double-digit rounds if you still need to round out your outfield.
