Lou Trivino Records His First Save On Wednesday
3 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino closed out the team's 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday to earn his first save of the year. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and one walk. All reports going into the season suggested that Trivino would be the clear closer for the A's, and there's been nothing to refute that claim thus far. Even though this was Trivino's first save, he appeared in a save-like situation on Sunday when he took on a 4-0 lead in the ninth and closed things out. The 30-year-old converted 22 of his 26 save opportunities last year. The A's are off to a surprisingly good start to the year, sitting at 3-3. If the club can remain competitive throughout the year and Trivino can remain the team's closer, he'll have a chance to top 20 saves once again.
