Lorenzo Cain Collects Three Hits
5 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Cubs. The veteran secured his first three hits of the season and scored the first Brewer's run on the season. Cain struggled at the plate last season, with a .697 OPS, but he shed some weight in the offseason and is off to a solid start in 2020. Cain has never been much of a power guy -- his career-high in home runs was 16 back in 2015 with the Royals -- and his speed numbers were also down in 2019 as a result of injuries. With better health, he should be able to bounce back on the average and stolen base front in 2020.

Lorenzo Cain Becomes A Free Agent
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain cleared release waivers on Thursday and has officially become a free agent. The Brewers designated the struggling Cain for assignment last weekend. It came after he hit just .179/.231/.234 with a homer, nine RBI, 17 runs scored and two stolen bases in 156 plate appearances over 43 games played in 2022. It remains to be seen if the two-time All-Star will latch on with another organization, but Cain is unlikely to be much more than outfield depth if he does. Since joining Milwaukee in 2018, the 36-year-old hit .270/.344/.380 with 30 home runs, 133 RBI, 226 runs scored and 63 stolen bases in 415 games over five seasons.

Lorenzo Cain DFA'd By Brewers
3 years agoOutfielder Lorenzo Cain was DFA'd by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday, putting an end to his five-year tenure with the team. The decision was a mutual one between Brewers management and Cain, who knew his time in the majors was coming to an end. The former fantasy stud was having a rough go this season, with a .179/.231/.234 slash line and only one home run to go along with two steals. Fantasy managers who have been playing for over a few years will remember his prime years when he was a constant 30-steal guy who could reliably hit .300. His career is likely coming to an end, and what a career it has been.
