Lonzo Ball’s Second-Half Fantasy Outlook
7 years agoLos Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball hasn’t quite lived up to expectations thus far in his first year in the Association. After his team selected him as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, Ball was an automatic favorite to end the year as the league’s Rookie of the Year. However, things haven’t gone as planned so far, especially for fantasy owners who selected him early in hopes of cashing in on the rookie’s upside. Along with missing a big chunk of games this season due to shoulder and ankle issues, Ball has been inconsistent to say the least. Though he has had his share of triple-doubles as well as a few occasional glimpses of his true potential, his subpar 35 percent field goal percentage has hindered his fantasy production. However, with the team declaring that he would remain the starter ahead of the newly-acquired Isaiah Thomas, Ball has the potential to re-write his rookie story in the second half of the season. He will likely take a small hit in the minutes department with Thomas in the picture, but he should still see enough floor time to make a fantasy impact, especially if his shot begins to fall in addition to remaining healthy and free of off-court distractions.
