4 years agoSan Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb (shoulder) has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will make the start against the Washington Nationals on Friday. Webb was initially scheduled to throw three innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento earlier this week, but the Giants scrapped those plans. He's been out almost six weeks with a right shoulder sprain. The 24-year-old has a decent 3.86 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a nice 26.1 percent strikeout rate in 10 outings (nine starts) spanning 49 innings this year, but he's a streamer to avoid because of how long he's been sidelined. By all means, grab him off the waiver wire if he's available in mixed leagues, but he should be benched on Friday because he'll likely go around three innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 months agoUnsurprisingly, San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin announced right-hander Logan Webb as the team's Opening Day starter on March 27 against the Cincinnati Reds. Webb has made at least 32 starts for the Giants in each of the last three seasons and is coming off his first All-Star appearance after going 13-10 with a 3.47 ERA (2.95 FIP) and 1.23 WHIP with 172 strikeouts and 50 walks in a league-high 204 2/3 innings covering 33 starts. The 28-year-old will have a difficult challenge on his hands in Cincinnati in a hitter-friendly ballpark, so he probably won't be thrown in too many DFS lineups. Webb is the only pitcher in baseball to exceed 200 innings each of the last two years, but his below-average 22.0% career strikeout rate makes him more of a No. 3 fantasy starter rather than an ace. He's still on the right side of 30, but his heavy workload over the last three years could start taking its toll sooner than later.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

6 months agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Logan Webb finished the 2024 season on a high note in Tuesday's 11-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Webb pitched six innings, allowing four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. The 27-year-old performed pretty much as fantasy managers expected this season, going 13-10 with a 3.58 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and a 7.56 K/9 rate in 33 starts and 204 2/3 IP. While his numbers were all within his career ranges, his ERA, BABIP, and WHIP were the highest they had been since his 2020 season and his K/9 rate was a career-low. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too surprised, as Webb is a pitch-to-contact, ground-ball pitcher. However, he had done a good job of suppressing hits in each of the previous three seasons. Webb has proven himself to be a high-floor fantasy option with a limited ceiling, making him a safe fantasy option.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

8 months agoSan Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb stepped up for the Giants on Thursday at Oracle Park to prevent a four-game sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves. Webb was on point to pick up his 11th victory of the season, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings while allowing four hits, walking one and striking out seven to lower his season ERA to 3.17. The 27-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2014 is on an outstanding run for the Gigantes, allowing only two earned runs on 17 hits while walking six and striking out 25 in 28 innings in his last four starts. Webb had a 20.5% strikeout rate coming into his outing on Thursday, which isn't ideal for fantasy managers, but despite that, he's having another workmanlike campaign in 2024. He'll be a must-start in his next outing against the worst team in baseball, the Chicago White Sox.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

9 months agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Logan Webb improved to 7-6 with Thursday's victory versus the Atlanta Braves. Webb tossed seven innings in the outing and allowed seven hits, two runs, one walk and struck out six on the day. Webb continues to be a model of consistency on the bump, having not gone less than six innings since May 5. The veteran seems to regularly fly under the radar and is now has smooth 3.09 ERA accompanied by 14 quality starts on the year. Next up for Webb and the Giants will be a date against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Managers should start Webb with confidence in all of his starts.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
