Logan Gilbert Ties Career High With Nine Strikeouts
4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert had his third consecutive strong outing Monday, delivering a quality start in a 5-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox. He took a no-decision and allowed two runs on five hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in six innings. The nine strikeouts tied his career-high. Gilbert has bounced back from a 9.13 ERA in 23 2/3 innings to post a 2.35 ERA through three September trips to the mound. Fantasy managers in redraft formats don't have to keep Gilbert rostered, but he's a high-upside streamer the rest of the way.

Logan Gilbert Fans Eight In Season Opener
2 weeks agoSeattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Logan Gilbert got his 2025 regular season off to a fantastic start by throwing seven innings with eight strikeouts, no walks, two hits, and one earned run. His only blemish came against Tyler Soderstrom, who took him 432 feet to dead center. Gilbert was filling up the strike zone consistently, which allowed him to work deep in the game. He threw 60 of his 83 pitches for strikes in this contest. The Mariners' offense couldn't produce enough offense to ensure him the win, so Gilbert walked away from this outing with a no-decision. Gilbert remains one of the top arms in fantasy baseball, and fantasy managers should be encouraged by what they saw in the opener. He will look to build on his momentum in his next start, which lines up to be next week at home against the Detroit Tigers.

Logan Gilbert Named Opening Day Starter
4 weeks agoSeattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert has been named the team's Opening Day starter for March 27 against the division-rival Athletics, according to The Seattle Times' Ryan Divish. Although Gilbert hasn't looked great in spring training action -- he's allowed four runs while walking five and striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings -- fantasy managers should have him locked into their lineups when he takes the hill against the A's to kick things off in 2025. The 27-year-old former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson University has been a workhorse for Seattle the last three years and was a first-time All-Star in 2024, when he went 9-12 with a 3.23 ERA (3.27 FIP), a league-best 0.89 WHIP, a career-high 220 strikeouts and only 37 walks in a league-high 208 2/3 innings over his 33 starts. Gilbert is a big reason why the M's are considered to have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. He's a fantasy ace.

Logan Gilbert, Mariners Avoid Arbitration
3 months agoAccording to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Seattle Mariners and starting pitcher Logan Gilbert have settled on a $7.625 million contract to avoid salary arbitration. Gilbert is coming off the best season of his career, posting a 3.23 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP. His 208 2/3 innings of work led the major leagues. He showcased elite command with a 4.6% walk rate. He generated strikeouts at a strong 27.4% K rate and whiffs at a solid 31.7% rate. He also generated a 3.14 xERA, placing him in the 87th percentile among qualified hitters. Gilbert has been one of the most reliable workhorse pitchers in the sport, making at least 32 starts each of the past three seasons. Fantasy managers should draft Gilbert with confidence as he carries one of the highest floors among starting pitchers. In addition, he should significantly improve your WHIP ratio, given his elite control.
