Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert rose to the occasion Wednesday, throwing 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball to lead the Mariners to a victory over the Oakland Athletics. Gilbert allowed three hits and two walks and struck out four batters in the no-decision. He's been excellent in September, pitching to a 2.70 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 33 1/3 innings over six starts. He's lasted at least into the sixth inning for four consecutive starts, and seems poised to take a leap for fantasy managers in 2022.--Doug Goldring

Seattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert (elbow) said that he will throw his first bullpen session on Tuesday. Gilbert threw off the mound to a standing catcher on Sunday. It's still to be determined on when he will possibly start a minor-league rehab assignment, but the 28-year-old reiterated that everything has felt good with his right elbow at every step so far. Gilbert was placed on the 15-day injured list in late April with a right-elbow injury, but as long as he doesn't suffer a setback as he begins ramping up, there's a chance he could be back for fantasy managers and in Seattle's starting rotation by the end of May. The former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson University is a must-start in fantasy each and every time he takes the mound when he's healthy. He had a 2.37 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 44 punchouts in 30 1/3 innings in his six starts before getting hurt.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert (elbow) was scheduled to play catch again on Friday and could throw off the mound by the end of the team's current homestand next Wednesday, May 14, according to general manager Justin Hollander. Gilbert landed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right elbow, but barring a setback, the M's are hoping that he'll be able to rejoin their starting rotation by the end of May. The 28-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks and will now begin building up his arm. When healthy, Gilbert is a high-end fantasy starter, so he needs to remain stashed in an IL spot in all leagues. The former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson went 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 44 strikeouts and only six walks in six starts over 30 1/3 innings this year before getting hurt.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (elbow) could return before the end of the month. Shannon Drayer reported that his outlook is "better than what it was initially." Gilbert was placed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain. The 27-year-old has yet to resume throwing; however, given this report, Gilbert may not need too much time to ramp up before he is cleared to return. Through his first 30 1/3 innings of work this season, the 27-year-old has posted a strong 2.37 ERA with a stellar 0.79 WHIP. He has tallied 44 punchouts while generating groundballs at a 51.5 percent rate. When Gilbert returns, he will be viewed as a high-end SP1 for the remainder of the campaign. While he remains sidelined, Emerson Hancock and Logan Evans should continue to see opportunities in the rotation.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (elbow) has been placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Gilbert was forced to exit early during Friday's start due to an elbow issue. Gilbert will now officially head to the injured list due to a right elbow flexor strain. The right-hander will miss at least two starts, but fantasy managers should expect him to be out a little longer than that. This is a tough break for the Mariners considering how well Gilbert has been pitching for them. So far this season, Gilbert has allowed two earned runs or less in every start, but one. It's unclear at the moment who is going to replace Gilbert in the Mariners rotation. The expectation is that Logan Evans could see a few starts while Gilbert is sidelined.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
