Little Progress Between Seahawks, Russell Wilson
6 years agoIt appears that the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson have made "very little progress" in contract-extension negotiations, even though Wilson has set an April 15 deadline. The franchise tag is unrealistic in this situation, and Wilson could want to become the highest paid player at his position this time around (meaning $34-35 million per season). Speculation is rising that the two sides could reach a compromise of a three-year deal worth $100 million guaranteed. Wilson is unlikely to hold out if nothing happens before April 15, but he also might not want to negotiate again until after the 2019 season. It's also highly unlikely that the Seahawks trade Wilson in the prime of his career, and they'd likely require a huge haul if they did dangle him.
