Little Optimism That Mets and Francisco Lindor Reach Deal
Francisco Lindor will reach a deal on a contract extension by the end of the day. The two sides are reportedly in a stalemate regarding the length of the contract extension. The Mets have offered Lindor a 10-year, $325 million deal, while Lindor seeks a 12-year, $385 million dollar contract. While the average annual salary is essentially the same, the two sides are separated by the length of the contract by two years. Opening Day is the unofficial deadline that the two sides have set to come to an agreement on the extension. If a deal is not reached by the end of Wednesday, it is possible, yet unadvisable, that Lindor plays out the 2021 campaign with no extension and leaves New York once his contract expires at the conclusion of the season. Lindor had a down year in 2020 while slashing .258/.335/.415 with just eight home runs and 27 RBI. That said, expectations are high for him in 2021 hitting in the potent Mets' lineup. Lindor would be gambling by not accepting the Mets' current offer, hoping that he would get an even more lucrative offer elsewhere at the end of the season based on his 2021 performance.

Francisco Lindor Hits Three-Run Home Run On Monday
Francisco Lindor had a big night in a 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. Lindor went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer to help power the Mets to the win. He blasted his seventh homer of the season in the seventh inning, a shot that traveled 415 feet with an exit velocity of 107 MPH. Lindor is now hitting .289 with 23 runs, 22 RBI, and three steals across 142 at-bats this season. He remains one of the better shortstops in all of fantasy.

Francisco Lindor Launches Two Big Flies On Monday
Francisco Lindor had a huge game on Monday, going 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBI in a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Lindor also walked and scored twice to round out his line. After an ice-cold start to his season, the 31-year-old has completely returned to form over the past few weeks. His season numbers look like normal Lindor numbers as well, with a .284 AVG and .840 OPS to go along with 16 runs, five homers, 13 RBI, and two swipes. He is a five-category contributor and one of the best players in fantasy.

Francisco Lindor Collects Three Hits, Homers
Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with a home run in the team's 7-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. He also struck out once and scored thrice. Lindor has typically been a slow starter, but he's wasted no time impacting the field in 2025. The 31-year-old has a hit in 16 of 18 games since starting the season 0-for-11 over New York's first three contests. He's got two homers in his last three appearances and is making consistent hard contact. On Sunday, the former first-round pick logged three hard-hit balls, all registering 102.9 MPH or above. Lindor's spot in the Mets' lineup may limit his RBI totals this season. However, he may make up for it in runs scored -- particularly with teammate Juan Soto heating up and Pete Alonso performing like one of the best hitters in baseball behind him.

Francisco Lindor Will Be Captain For Puerto Rico In 2026 WBC
Francisco Lindor announced on his Instagram on Wednesday that he will be the captain for Team Puerto Rico in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Lindor will once again play for his home country in next year's WBC after also playing for Team Puerto Rico in 2023, when they ended up being eliminated in the quarterfinals against Mexico. The 31-year-old All-Star is one of the top fantasy shortstops in the game, although he hasn't really gotten off to an outstanding start to the 2025 campaign. The former first-rounder (eighth overall) by the Cleveland Guardians in 2011 entered Wednesday's action with just one home run and a .234/.288/.344 slash line with a .631 OPS in 16 games played. The switch-hitter should be just fine, though, and he extended his modest hitting streak to five games with one hit in Wednesday's loss to the Minnesota Twins.
