Lions Utilizing DJ Chark's Versatility
2 years agoThe Detroit Lions added veteran wide receiver DJ Chark to their young offense because of his speed and size, making him a prime candidate for the "X" receiver spot. Since camp has begun, though, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has elected to move him around the formation to maximize his skill set. At 6-foot-4 with sub-4.4-second speed, Chark had a monstrous sophomore season in 2019, finishing with 73 receptions for 1,008 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. Chark has struggled with health and inefficiency since but could become an integral part of the Lions offense alongside tight end T.J. Hockenson, fellow receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and rookie receiver Jameson Williams once healthy. Chark could be a valuable late target in drafts who has an increased role early in the season.
