6 years agoDetroit Lions quarterbacks Matt Cassel and Jake Rudock have been battling throughout camp to become Matthew Stafford's backup. Cassel started the team's first preseason game against the Raiders and finished 10-for-18 for 81 yards. However, he also fumbled when he was sacked on the Lions last drive as they trailed 16-10. Rudock finished 12-for-19 for 84 yards against Oakland, but had a rough week during joint practices with their opponent on Friday, the New York Giants. Cassel should get more opportunities to win the job based off of his experience in the NFL, but Rudock also has a lot to prove in his third year in the league.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
