2 months agoAccording to Bruce Garrioch of TSN, Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark (back) is nearing a return and could return during their next homestand on Thursday or Saturday. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since suffering this injury on December 22. Before the injury, Ullmark began to turn the corner on a slow start as he was riding a perfect seven-game winning streak with a .967% SV and a 0.99 GAA. While sidelined, Leevi Merilainen has taken over the Ottawa crease and performed quite well. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Ullmark's status leading up to their game against the Capitals on Thursday or the Wild on Saturday, as he could make his return. However, given Merilainen's excellent play as of late, fantasy managers should expect both of them to share the crease for the foreseeable future.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

1 month agoOttawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark will get the starting nod on Wednesday when the Senators host the Winnipeg Jets. Since returning to action on February 4, Ullmark has held an underwhelming 0-3 record with a hefty 4.88 and .879 save percentage. Before his return, Ullmark was sidelined since December 22 due to a back injury. While Ullmark has yet to find his footing since his return, the 31-year-old was quite productive before the injury. Over his previous 10 starts before suffering the injury, Ullmark posted a stellar 8-0-1 record with a .952 save percentage and a 1.48 GAA. On Wednesday, he will face the Winnipeg Jets who have averaged the third-highest goals per game (3.57). As a result, DFS managers should look to fade Ullmark in this matchup until he returns to form. --Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 months agoOttawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark (back) is gearing up to return to the lineup. Leevi Merilainen, who improved to 8-3-1 with Saturday's 6-0 win over the Minnesota Wild, has been reassigned to the AHL by the Senators, indicating that Ullmark is ready to take over the crease on Monday against the Nashville Predators. Ullmark has missed 18 games with a back injury. He has put together a 12-7-2 record during his first year with the Senators, allowing 2.38 goals with a .915 save percentage and three shutouts. Ullmark's return is great news for Ottawa and fantasy managers alike. The team begins a pivotal four-game road trip on Monday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoAccording to TSN Ottawa, Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark (back) will not serve as the backup on Thursday evening when the Senators face the Capitals. The team expressed optimism that Ullmark could return during their current homestand but will need at least another day to recover. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next game on Saturday evening when they face the Minnesota Wild. Anton Forsberg is slated to start on Thursday evening, with Leevi Merilainen operating as the No.2 option. Prior to his injury, Ullmark was riding an impressive seven-game winning streak. During this stretch, he carried a .967% SV with a 0.99 GAA. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Ullmark's status, as either Forsberg or Merilainen will likely be optioned to the AHL when Ullmark is cleared to return to action.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoOttawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark (back) has been labeled as week-to-week. He hasn't played since Dec. 22 and didn't participate in Sunday's practice. Ullmark put together a seven-game winning streak in December, bringing his record to 12-7-2. He has managed three shutouts with his new club and holds a 2.38 goals-against average with a .915 save percentage. Leevi Merilainen has seen a lot of action during Ullmark's absence, but Anton Forsberg returned to the crease on Friday against St. Louis. He will likely get the bulk of the work going forward as the more experienced netminder.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
