1 year agoChicago White Sox closer Liam Hendriks is now expected to have his next throwing session on Friday. Manager Pedro Grifol said Hendrik's velocity and stuff "ticked up" during his simulated game on Monday. There is no set date for his return from the injured list, but it sounds like the team will make a decision on him after he throws again on Friday. As long as the 34-year-old right-handed reliever looks good again on Friday, he'll likely come off the injured list this weekend in order to make his 2023 debut. Hendriks has been out all year after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in January, but he's cancer-free now. He didn't look good on a short minor-league rehab assignment and will likely be eased into high-leverage situations initially, but Hendriks is fully expected to return to closer duties when he's ready this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
