Liam Hendriks Blows Save Monday
3 years agoChicago White Sox closer Liam Hendriks blew his second save of the season in Monday's 12-9 extra-inning loss to the Guardians. Hendriks entered the game with two outs in the ninth inning, runners on first and second, and an 8-4 lead. He allowed a single to Owen Miller to load the bases and then gave up a game-tying grand slam to Josh Naylor before finally getting the final out on a groundout. Hendriks' final stat line was two earned runs allowed on two hits, no walks, and no strikeouts over 1/3 inning pitched. The 33-year-old has not been the fantasy option managers had bargained for to start the season, converting nine of 11 save opportunities but with a 4.61 ERA. Small sample sizes can inflate mistakes and the saves and strikeouts are coming, so fantasy managers shouldn't worry too much about Hendriks.
