Lewin Diaz Claimed By Orioles
Lewin Diaz off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, according to sources. Diaz was designated for assignment by the Pirates earlier this week after the landed Ji-Man Choi in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. The 26-year-old Dominican slugger spent the last three years with the Miami Marlins, struggling to the tune of a .181/.227/.340 slash line with 13 home runs, 27 RBI, 30 runs scored and 99 strikeouts in 343 plate appearances over 112 games. He's out of minor-league options, so he'll stand a decent chance of making the big-league roster to open the 2023 season if he shows some signs of life at the plate in spring training.
