3 years agoMiami Marlins rookie first baseman Lewin Diaz was called up before Thursday's game and will get the start, playing first base and batting fifth. With Garrett Cooper (oblique) dealing with an injury that could keep him out for a couple more games, the Marlins needed some depth in the infield. Starting pitcher Nick Neidert (biceps) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Diaz has some nice long-term upside, but didn't hit at all in 14 big league games last year and was off to a bit of a slow start at Triple-A this year.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
