Lazaro Montes Leading The Minors In RBI
6 months agoSeattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes went 1-for-3 with two walks on Sunday for Single-A Modesto. The 19-year-old scored once and collected his league-leading 57th RBI in the contest as well. The hit also extended his current hitting streak to eight games, during which he's batting .394 (13-for-33). On the season, the left-handed hitter is slashing .330/.429/.534 with nine home runs, a .450 wOBA, and a 158 wRC+. With nearly as many walks (33) as strikeouts (40), he's shown great patience at the plate as well. The Mariners' fourth-ranked prospect seems to be on the precipice of a promotion as he proved he could hit High-A pitching in 2023 as well, but is still a couple years away from the majors. Montes should already be on the radar for dynasty managers, and will begin to creep up the MLB Top 100 Prospects list, currently ranked at 82 overall.
