Lawrence Butler 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: The Tools Are There To Be A Top 10 OF
Lawrence Butler looked like another toolsy prospect who wouldn't hit enough to matter in real and fantasy games. He was batting just .179 with a 30% strikeout rate through May 13, when he was sent to the minors for a month. After making a swing adjustment in June, Butler returned to the MLB squad and started raking, showing a better eye at the plate and eventually taking hold of a leadoff spot he would not relinquish. From June 18 to the end of the season, Butler hit .291 (.895 OPS) with 20 bombs and a 12% barrel rate. He added 15 steals and was not caught stealing (18-for-18). During that stretch, his 153 wRC+ ranked 13th in MLB (min. 150 PA). If we look to poke holes in Butler's profile, we could point to a short track record of success in the majors. But everything under the hood backs up the 24-year-old's breakout. Steamer buys it, too, with a 27/21 projection. If he can maintain the approach changes in 2025, Butler provides potential top 20 value outside the top 50 and is worth selecting at his current NFBC ADP of 75 heading into 2025 fantasy baseball drafts.
