Larry Fitzgerald Leaning Toward Retirement?
3 years agoWhen asked by Jim Gray on SiriusXM Radio if he will play football this year, free-agent wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald sounds more like he's leaning toward a soft retirement than anything. "For now I'll be a radio broadcaster. Jim, to be honest with you, I just don't have the urge to play right now. I don't know how I'll feel in September, October, November moving forward but I just, today, I just don't have the urge," Fitzgerald said. If the 37-year-old future Hall of Famer does decide to return, it'll probably only be with the Arizona Cardinals, where he'd likely have a much smaller role than he did in his first two seasons in Arizona with head coach Kliff Kingsbury when he averaged 6.2 targets per game. If this is truly it for Fitz, he'll finish with an amazing 1,432 receptions for 17,492 yards and 121 touchdowns in 263 career games over 17 seasons, all with the Cardinals.
