Lance McCullers Jr. Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
6 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday and will miss the entire 2019 season. It's a huge blow to Houston's rotation moving forward, as they could also be parting ways with Dallas Keuchel and Charlie Morton in free agency. McCullers missed a large chunk of the second half due to arm injuries and worked out of the bullpen in the postseason. His heavy usage of his wipeout slider likely played a big part in his elbow problems. A fantasy ace when healthy, McCullers is a high-risk, high-reward fantasy pitcher but may come at nice discount when he returns in 2020. Collin McHugh is a candidate to return to Houston's rotation next year.
