Lance McCullers Jr. Placed On IL With Shoulder Soreness
3 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with right shoulder soreness, according to Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle. General manager James Click described the move as precautionary, saying that McCullers experienced some soreness after throwing 105 pitches over five innings on Saturday. "Just a little shoulder soreness," Click said. "We're just erring on the side of caution going from 60 games to 162, we felt like it was better to let him skip a start. We can retro it all the way to Saturday, so he's eligible to come back a week from today. We'll kind of reassess in a day or two to see where he's at." This is good news for fantasy managers, as it appears McCullers shouldn't miss too much time. He's been having a good year on the mound so far, going 3-1 with a 2.96 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings of work. To fill McCullers' spot on the roster, the Astros have recalled relief pitcher Ralph Garza, who has 11 strikeouts over 6 2/3 scoreless innings this year at Triple-A.
