Lance Lynn Strikes Out Nine But Unravels In Seventh Inning
6 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Lance Lynn took his fifth loss of the season against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. The right-hander struck out a season-high nine batters and nearly went seven strong innings, but things took a turn for the worst in the bottom of the seventh. The Tigers scored on a sacrifice fly after John Hicks’ first career triple, but that was only the start. Lynn then hit Jose Iglesias with a pitch before JaCoby Jones took the right-hander deep for a two-run shot. The Tigers took a 3-1 lead and never let it go. The Twins offensive slump continues to hurt their pitchers. Nonetheless, the performance stretched Lynn’s streak of consecutive quality starts to five. He will get the Red Sox next Wednesday in Minnesota, where daily fantasy players might have to think twice before starting him.
