LaMonte Wade Jr. Ready To Claim First Base Role With Giants
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Monday that first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. has had a "very focused offseason." The 29-year-old had a breakout 2021 season but had a disappointing 2022 season, slashing just .207/.305/.359 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 251 plate appearances while dealing with left knee inflammation. Now that both of his legs are healthy, Wade said he is ready to regain the balance and base that helped him hit 18 home runs with a .482 slugging percentage in 2021. With long-time first baseman Brandon Belt now with the Blue Jays, Wade could earn the everyday role if he has a nice spring. While first base is a deep position for fantasy, Wade is worth keeping an eye on this spring.
