La'Mical Perine Held In Check By Dolphins
La'Mical Perine should see an increased workload going forward after the release of Le'Veon Bell. He saw seven carries for 27 yards and hauled in two receptions for nine yards in the receiving game. For some reason the Dolphins continue to use veteran Frank Gore as the lead back. Perine has potential and deserves a longer look going forward. Perine is worth stashing in most formats, but won't be an ideal fantasy option against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7.

La'Mical Perine Joins Packers
La'Mical Perine to their practice squad on Friday. This news comes days after Perine was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He joined Pittsburgh in May and rushed 16 times for 46 yards with a touchdown in the preseason. He should serve as decent depth with the Packers shorthanded at running back right now. In three seasons, Perine has rushed for 340 yards with two touchdowns in 17 games between the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. Fantasy managers can continue to ignore Perine with Josh Jacobs likely to see the bulk of the carries in Green Bay.

Steelers Sign La'Mical Perine
La'Mical Perine to a one-year deal, they announced on Thursday. Perine had been cut loose by the Kansas City Chiefs roughly one week earlier. A fourth-round pick in 2020, Perine has never been a major contributor out of the backfield. His best season came as a rookie with the New York Jets when he totaled 295 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. He has just 33 touches over seven games since then, though he did log one start with the Chiefs in 2023 (21 rushes, 76 rushing yards, three receptions, 33 receiving yards). Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren have the top two running back spots occupied in Pittsburgh, so Perine is presumably competing for the third-string role with versatile veteran Cordarrelle Patterson, former Harvard standout Aaron Shampklin, and undrafted rookie Daijun Edwards. He remains off the fantasy radar.

Chiefs Release La'Mical Perine
La'Mical Perine on Friday. Perine was taken by the New York Jets in the fourth round (120th overall) in 2020 out of Florida. He spent his first three years with the Jets and only played in 14 games (zero starts) over two years, racking up 263 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 72 rushing attempts, adding 11 receptions for 63 yards. The 26-year-old joined the Chiefs for the 2023 campaign and had 22 carries for 77 yards and added three catches for 33 yards in just three regular-season games (one start). He's now on the open market and will be looking to join another squad for training camp this summer. No matter where Perine latches on, he'll be well off the fantasy radar and will just be trying to make the team out of training camp and the preseason.

Chiefs Sign La'Mical Perine To Futures Deal
La'Mical Perine to a Reserve/Futures Deal on Wednesday. The team also signed Kendall Blanton, Dicaprio Bootle, Matt Bushman, Mike Caliendo, Cole Christiansen, Jerrion Early, Chris Oladokun, Cornell Powell, Austin Reiter, Danny Shelton and Ihmir Smith-Marsette. The 25-year-old Perine didn't sign to Kansas City's practice squad until last month, and he didn't see any playing time in a game. The former fourth-rounder by the New York Jets in 2020 has played in two seasons with New York, carrying the ball 72 times for 263 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games (zero starts). Sixty four of his 72 carries came in his rookie campaign. Perine will give the Chiefs more depth at the position heading into the 2023 season.
