Kyle Zimmer Healthy And Effective
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Kyle Zimmer may finally see the big leagues in 2019. Zimmer was Kansas City's first-round pick in 2012, taken at No. 5 overall, and he has been a massive bust up to this point. Zimmer's limitation has always been his health, as he's usually been pretty effective when he's actually been able to pitch. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened often. Zimmer is returning after missing all of 2018 in an attempt to recover from his litany of injuries, and he's pitched well this spring. Zimmer has thrown 12 2/3 innings during spring training, he's only surrendered one earned run while striking out eight, and he's been clocked at 96 MPH. No official announcement has been made yet, but Zimmer is in the mix to land an Opening Day roster spot. With the bullpen in flux, Zimmer could be a surprise star. If he can stay healthy, that is.
