1 year agoTampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Kyle Trask lost his battle for the starting job under center to Baker Mayfield, as head coach Todd Bowles announced on Tuesday that Mayfield will open the 2023 regular season as the team's starter. It doesn't mean that Trask won't play meaningful snaps under center for the Bucs this year, but he won't get the starting nod on Sept. 10 against the Minnesota Vikings. Mayfield was the favorite all along, but Trask impressed the coaching staff in training camp and went 20-for-28 for 218 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in Saturday's preseason win over the New York Jets. If the second-rounder in 2021 does end up starting games for Tampa at some point this year, he'll be a low-end QB2 option for those in superflex leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
