Kyle Stanley Once Again Disappoints in a Major
6 years agoKyle Stanley shot rounds of 75 and 79 for a two-day total of 14-over par. With the missed cut at Shinnecock Hills, Stanley is now only 5-for-14 lifetime in cuts made in Majors. It is a perplexing stat for a player that ranks near or at the top of the ball striking leaders yearly. Shinnecock Hills was not the best course design for Stanley's game, but honestly, these are just becoming built-in excuses for the American. Stanley needs to figure out what is going wrong in prominent events and fix it as soon as he can. Stanley will now turn his attention to the Travelers Championship this week. In his last five appearances at TPC River Highlands, Stanley has posted three missed cuts, a T57 and a T20 in 2015. Stanley's ball striking abilities makes him a threat at any venue he plays at, but his expectations at the Travelers should be tempered slightly based on his course history.
