Kyle Schwarber Leaves Tuesday's Game With Elbow Discomfort
2 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (elbow) left Tuesday's contest early against the Tampa Bay Rays at Citizens Bank Park with left-elbow discomfort, according to the Phillies. Schwarber appeared to injure his elbow when sliding back into first base on a pickoff attempt by the Rays catcher. He did damage at the plate before departing, though, going 1-for-1 with his 35th homer of the season (a solo shot) while also scoring a run and walking once. He was replaced at DH by bench player Buddy Kennedy. Expect the 31-year-old slugger to undergo testing after the game, so we won't know his status moving forward until then. Hopefully, it's just a day-to-day thing and not a serious injury. If it is serious, it could jeopardize Schwarber's available for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. Both Kody Clemens and Weston Wilson could see more at-bats if Schwarber misses time.
