Kyle Manzardo Hitting For High Average
8 months agoCleveland Guardians first base prospect Kyle Manzardo is hitting .381 with a .934 OPS in 21 at-bats this spring. Manzardo, 23, was surprisingly dealt by the Tampa Bay Rays for Aaron Civale during last years deadline and has become one of the Guardians top prospects entering 2024. The first baseman has been an on-base machine throughout his career and has shown improved power with 39 homers over the past two season. Last season in Triple-A for the Rays and Guardians, Manzardo combined to have a .236 batting average to go along with 17 homers, 55 RBI and a healthy .801 OPS. Manzardo was drafted as a player with a good strike zone, but the his improvement in the power department has been what has put him on the map. He won't be breaking camp at first with Josh Naylor entrenched there, but there is still a chance that he can crack the Opening Day roster as either a designated hitter or bench bat. He is worth keeping an eye on, but can be avoided in redraft formats for now.
