Chip Ganassi Racing's Kyle Larson struggled mightily during Friday's qualifying session for the TicketGuardian 500 at ISM Raceway. He turned in a top speed of just 134.786 mph in his No. 42 Chevrolet, good for the 31st spot in Sunday's starting grid. Larson has been rather good at this track in recent seasons, posting a 97.6 Driver Rating across the past five starts, sixth among all active drivers, while leading 69 total laps and posting an Average-Finish Position of 13.2. He has no wins in 10 career tries at the suburban Phoenix run, but he has a respectable 14.2 AFP and eight top-20s.--Daniel Dobish
