Kyle Larson the Heavy Favorite to Win at Las Vegas
9 months agoKyle Larson entered the Pennzoil 400 race weekend as the heavy favorite to take the win according to all sportsbooks, and nothing has changed after practice and qualifying on Saturday. Larson didn't get the pole for this weekend's race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but he will start from second-place, which is the position that this race was won in both races last season. Looking at the six races at 1.5-mile intermediate tracks last year, Larson had a series-leading average running position of 5.48--nearly four full positions better than the second-best driver, his teammate, William Byron (9.29)--and over those six races, he grabbed one victory (here at Las Vegas last fall) and four top-five results. After qualifying, the Hendrick Motorsports driver was interviewed and he stated, "My race car in practice felt really good. I felt like we were one of the top two cars." Larson was fastest in five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, and 25-lap averages during practice. It looks like the No. 5 Chevrolet is fast enough to put up another dominating performance here in Las Vegas on Sunday.
