Kyle Hendricks Completes First Rehab Start Thursday
2 years agoChicago Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks (shoulder) pitched in his first rehab game on Thursday with Triple-A Iowa. He threw 54 pitches, allowing six runs while walking one and striking out three over 1.2 innings. Hendricks is trying to return from a capsular tear in his right shoulder that ended his 2022 campaign in July. The 33-year-old will likely need at least one more rehab start before rejoining the Cubs, with the club targeting mid-May if there are no setbacks. Fantasy managers can't expect too much production from Hendricks, especially in his first few starts of 2023. He's never been a strikeout pitcher, with a career 20.1% strikeout rate, and struggled last season to the tune of a 4.80 ERA and 4.82 FIP with four victories over 16 starts.
