Kyle Gibson Lands On IL With Groin Strain
3 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Kyle Gibson (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday (retroactive to May 22) with a right groin strain, Rangers Executive Vice President of Communications John Blake announced on Twitter. Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports that the groin issue is something Gibson has been pitching through over his past several appearances, and the team expects him to only miss a couple starts. Gibson has been putting together a career year so far this season, going 3-0 with a 2.24 ERA, 1.011 WHIP and a 20.1 percent strikeout rate over 60 1/3 innings of work. There's been no announced replacement yet, but we could see either Kolby Allard or Wes Benjamin fill in for the short term in Texas' rotation. That being said, managers should look elsewhere for a replacement in their lineup.
