Kyle Gibson Fans Nine In Dominant Performance Thursday
6 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kyle Gibson took the mound later than expected on Thursday, but if it affected him, he sure didn't pitch like it. While Tampa Bay Rays starter Blake Snell barely lasted three innings after a two-hour rain delay, Gibson was absolutely dominant through eight innings. He got into one jam the entire game — in the very first inning — before breezing through the Rays lineup the rest of his outing. The Rays had come into Thursday's matchup averaging over six runs a game during a five-game win streak. Gibson shut all that down during the course of eight innings where he allowed one run on five hits, struck out nine and walked none. The veteran is now sporting a 3.42 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP, and with the trade deadline nearing he's definitely raised his value. Fantasy players might do well to grab Gibson off the waiver wire before the All-Star break — if he's still available.
