Kyle Garlick To Have Sports Hernia Surgery
3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Kyle Garlick (hernia) is headed for surgery to repair a sports hernia. Garlick was cleared to begin a rehab assignment, but continued issues with the hernia caused the team to opt for surgery. The veteran outfielder was a solid platoon bat for Minnesota, posting a .271/.302/.576 slash line with four homers, six RBI, and 12 runs scored against lefties this season across 59 at-bats. Garlick likely doesn't fit into the Twins' future outfield plans with youngsters Alex Kirilloff (wrist) and Trevor Larnach proving they belong at the big league level this season. It's unclear if he'll be able to return this season after the procedure.
