4 years agoKyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing started in the middle of the pack at 24th and Stage 1 did not start all that well. Busch wound up 15th after Stage 1 and then 16th after Stage 2. The younger Busch was able to battle throughout the later parts of the race and even made his way into the top-ten. In the end, tenth was where Busch would finish. It was his first top-ten finish of the season through three races. Busch has won in Vegas before and has two poles under his belt. He could perform better in Las Vegas. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoKyle Busch will start 22nd for this week's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway after qualifying. This will be the lowest starting position of the season for the No. 8 Chevrolet driver after five races. In 20 starts at Homestead, Busch has 14 top-20 finishes, including nine of the past 10 Cup events at the site. In five races completed this year, Busch has three top-10 finishes while gaining positive Place Differential twice. In practice, Busch ranked 27th in overall lap averages while not showing much speed at all in all other categories. Busch's track history at Homestead makes him worth consideration for all DFS formats, especially with his below-average starting position providing upside. However, Busch works best as a pivot play, considering his practice speeds this week.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoKeep an eye on Kyle Busch in this weekend's Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Richard Childress Racing has had better-than-expected speed to start out the 2025 season, and "Rowdy" has an excellent track record at his home venue. In six of the last nine races at this track, Busch has finished sixth or better, so the talent is definitely there if his equipment is up to par. The No. 8 Chevrolet wasn't overly competitive in the two Las Vegas races last year--Busch finished 26th and 13th--but, as mentioned before, the RCR Chevrolets could have more speed this time around. Busch also finished eighth at Kansas last season, which is the sister track to Las Vegas. This weekend, the No. 8 Chevrolet was 11th-fastest in practice. Kyle will roll off the starting grid from fourth-place when the Pennzoil 400 goes green on Sunday. He could end up leading some laps early and makes for an interesting tournament play in DFS contests on DraftKings. --Jordan McAbee

4 weeks agoKyle Busch of Richard Childress Racing will start 15th for this week's Phoenix Raceway Cup event, the Shriners Children's 500. This will be Busch's highest starting position at a race at the Arizona track since 2023. In 39 starts at Phoenix, Busch has three wins and 26 top-10 finishes. The No. 8 Chevrolet driver last scored a top-10 at Phoenix in the March 2023 race but also finished with positive Place Differential in his last two races at the site. In practice, Busch ranked second in overall lap averages while ranking among the top 20 fastest in almost all categories. With Phoenix overall being a favorable track for Busch and his solid practice speeds, Busch can be utilized in any DFS format, but his upside, which is average overall, makes him more favored as a tournament play than a cash game play.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

1 month agoKyle Busch had one of his strongest road course performances in his Cup career at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday by finishing fifth and leading 43 laps. Beginning the race from the eighth position, Busch held tough throughout the entire race, scoring stage points in the first and second stages by placing fourth in both. The No. 8 Chevrolet driver became dominant during the race's final stage, taking the lead at several points, but lap 74 began his longest period of being the leader. Even through a caution for incident, Busch would not surrender the lead until five laps to go, when Christopher Bell passed him cleanly in turn one. In the closing laps, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, and Chase Elliott all passed Busch, relegating him to a finish of fifth. This finish would be the third consecutive top-10 finish for Busch at COTA as well as the fourth overall in his Cup career.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
