Texas Rangers pitching prospect Kumar Rocker is one of baseball's most highly regarded young hurlers. Following Tommy John surgery in May of 2023, he threw just 36 2/3 minor league innings before making his MLB debut in September of 2024. Despite having just 75 professional innings under his belt, Rocker is expected to play a key role in the Rangers' 2025 season. When it comes to pitching ability, few doubt his upside. The seven feet of extension generated by his delivery ranks in the 90th percentile among all pitchers. His slider and curveball are both incredibly impressive. His changeup and sinker are solid as well. His four-seam fastball, though, will need to miss more barrels in 2025 (MLB hitters combined for a .350 batting average and .500 slugging percentage against it). As for durability, there are certainly concerns with his injury history and domineering frame. Despite this, multiple projection systems (including Steamer) believe Rocker is capable of surpassing 140 innings in 2025. Overall, Rocker presents a high-upside fantasy option, but managers shouldn't rely on him to carry their team.--Wade Smith - RotoBaller
