Kristian Campbell, Red Sox Are In Deep Talks About Contract Extension
2 days agoThe Boston Red Sox and top infield prospect Kristian Campbell are in deep talks about a contract extension. No contract specifics were reported, but look for the Red Sox to try to secure an extension with their top prospect soon. He earned a spot on Boston's Opening Day roster and is off to a hot start in 2025. The 22-year-old is hitting .500 (5-for-10) with a home run over two games. Campbell smashed his first major-league home run off Jacob Webb in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Texas Rangers. His homer traveled 431 feet with an exit velocity of 112.2 mph. Campbell has a ton of upside and should be added in all league formats. He's only rostered in 39% of Yahoo Fantasy leagues, especially while swinging a hot bat. Campbell will look to continue his strong start in Sunday's series finale against the Rangers.

Kristian Campbell Hitting In Six-Hole In MLB Debut
2 days agoBoston Red Sox second base prospect Kristian Campbell is starting at the keystone and is batting sixth in his major-league debut on Opening Day on Thursday against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi at Globe Life Field. Campbell did just enough in spring training to edge out David Hamilton for the starting duties at the keystone in Boston to begin the 2025 regular season. Last year's minor-league breakout player hit just .167 (8-for-48) with two doubles, a homer, two RBI, eight runs and 18 strikeouts in 59 plate appearances in 20 Grapefruit League games this spring, but he showed enough on defense to convince manager Alex Cora to carry him on the big-league roster to begin the year. It may take the 22-year-old a while for his power to show at the major-league level, but otherwise he should be a middle infielder with upside for those in deep-mixed fantasy leagues.

Kristian Campbell Makes Opening Day Roster
6 days agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell has officially made the team's Opening Day roster, according to Chris Cotillo. He will likely begin the season playing every day at second base, with Alex Bregman at third and Rafael Devers shifting to DH. He didn't have the most promising spring, batting just .174 and striking out at a 30.4% clip. However, he did connect with his first home run on Saturday and is coming off of a dominant 2024 season in the minors where he slashed .330/.439/.558 with 20 home runs and 24 stolen bases. He is one of the best prospects in baseball and plays the weakest position in fantasy, making him a must-add in any league where he isn't already rostered.

Kristian Campbell Getting The Start At Second Base On Saturday
1 week agoBoston Red Sox prospect Kristian Campbell is starting at second base and is batting leadoff for Saturday's Grapefruit League game. It's the second straight day that Campbell is starting at the keystone, suggesting that he may be the favorite to open the 2025 regular season as the starter at second over David Hamilton. Manager Alex Cora said that he has a "pretty good idea of what we're going to do" at the position, but the club has yet to make their plans official to the media. Hamilton is expected to make the Opening Day roster, but it will likely be as utility infielder. The 22-year-old Campbell broke out in the minors in 2024 with a .329/.437/.551 slash line with 20 home runs and 24 steals in 115 games over three different levels. He should definitely be rostered in dynasty/keeper leagues, but fantasy managers in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues may want to temper expectations in his rookie season, especially in the power department.

Kristian Campbell The Favorite For Second Base Job?
2 weeks agoDespite a report on Monday suggesting that Boston Red Sox infielder David Hamilton might be the front-runner to win the starting job at second base, MassLive's Chris Cotillo and Sean McAdam write that prospect Kristian Campbell remains squarely in the mix to win the job and appears to be the favorite (in the mind of team decision-makers) despite struggling at the plate so far in spring training. In addition to Hamilton and Campbell, Vaughn Grissom is also competing at the keystone. Campbell, who is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in MLB by Baseball America, helped his case by making several diving grabs on defense in Monday's Grapefruit League win over the Orioles while also going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. While Campbell has the much higher fantasy ceiling than Hamilton, he could probably benefit from more minor-league seasoning after going 6-for-36 (.167) at the plate with a .286 OBP in 15 spring games.
