Kolby Allard Roughed Up By Reds
4 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Kolby Allard allowed three runs in as many innings on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds. The lefty gave up three hits and two walks. He also threw a wild pitch but struck out four batters. These were the first runs that Allard has allowed in four spring outings. Overall, he has a 3.00 ERA with six hits and three walks allowed in nine innings. He's also struck out 13 batters. He's an early favorite to break camp with the Rangers as an innings-eating reliever although it's possible that he could sneak into the starting rotation if Thursday's results were an anomaly. Last season, he appeared in 11 big league games (eight starts) and posted a 7.75 ERA and an uncharacteristically-high walk rate of 13%.
