4 years agoDespite optioning him off the active roster recently, the Texas Rangers added pitcher Kolby Allard to the big league roster for opening day. The lefty had a solid spring by allowing five earned runs in 11.2 innings. He also posted an impressive K-BB of 15-4. Allard wasn't as successful in 2020 at the MLB level, though. He produced an ugly 7.75 ERA and a modest 21% strikeout rate. From a roster manipulation standpoint, Allard is valuable because he can start or relieve and his minor league option allows him to be demoted and/or recalled repeatedly throughout the season.
