Kohl Stewart Picks Up Victory In Spot Start
3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Kohl Stewart picked up his first win of the season versus the San Diego Padres on Monday. Stewart was recalled from Triple-A Iowa with scheduled starter Trevor Williams (appendicitis) sidelined after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Sunday morning. The former top pitching prospect performed well in his spot start and went five innings with three hits, one run (zero earned), one walk and struck out two on the afternoon. Depending on when Williams is expected back, Stewart could see another turn in the rotation. Stewart would be lined up to face a tough San Francisco Giants offense on Saturday and it would be wise to avoid him in that matchup. Stewart doesn't have long term value at the moment and should remain on the waiver wire.
