Kohei Arihara To Make First MLB Start Versus Royals
4 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Kohei Arihara is making his first MLB start today against the Kansas City Royals. The Japanese import will look to quiet the Kansas City bats after the club smashed three home runs, banged out 15 hits, and scored 14 runs against Rangers pitching on opening day. Arihara pitched six seasons with the Nippon-Ham Fighters of the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan. He throws upwards of seven different pitches and his fastball velocity sits around 92 mph. He's never been a huge strikeout pitcher but he throws a lot of strikes and will rely on the defense behind him to record outs.
