1 month agoNew York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that right-hander Kodai Senga is unlikely to pitch now for Game 5 of the National League Championship Series on Friday at Citi Field against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mets are comfortable with left-handed starter David Peterson throwing up to 80 pitches and desperately need him to eat up innings in a must-win game with the Mets down 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. Mendoza also said that left-hander Sean Manaea, who started Game 2 on Monday, is not available. Relievers Ryne Stanek and Edwin Diaz could combine to get the last 12 outs of the game if the Mets have a lead late in the game. The 31-year-old Senga only made one start in the regular season due to injuries and was hit around to the tune of three earned runs and four walks in just 1 1/3 innings in his start in Game 1 of the NLCS on Sunday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
