Kirby Yates Has Significant Elbow Injury
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays closer Kirby Yates (elbow) is injured. The club announced that he would miss multiple weeks with a flexor-pronator strain in his right arm. It's an injury similar to the one that sidelined Shohei Ohtani in August last season. The injury typically requires four to six weeks of healing before a pitcher can begin a throwing program. Yates was signed to a one-year contract in the offseason after missing most of last season with an elbow injury as a member of the Padres. He underwent surgery for bone chips last August. Toronto will likely look to Jordan Romano, Rafael Dolis, and/or Tyler Chatwood to cover the high-leverage innings.
