Kirby Yates Extends Saves Lead
6 years agoSan Diego Padres closer Kirby Yates struck out the side to collect his 19th save Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yates made short work of the Snakes, fanning the side in order to extend his major league leading saves tally. The 32-year-old veteran holds a 1.17 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 23 appearances with a ludicrous 45.5 percent strikeout rate. Drafted as a mid-tier relief option this offseason, Yates believers have profited handsomely from his returns and he’s emerged as one of the baseball’s most clutch lead-protectors.
