3 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Kevin Smith is not part of the team's starting lineup for Monday's game against Luis Patino and the Tampa Bay Rays. Sheldon Neuse is getting the start at third base and batting eighth in the game. Smith started each of the team's first three games of the year and struggled immensely at the plate, going 0-for-11 with six strikeouts. The 25-year-old had a strong spring with the A's, posting a 1.047 OPS while tallying three home runs, three doubles and 11 RBI over 43 plate appearances. He should be in the lineup more often than not going forward, assuming he can turn things around after this slow start.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
